Mission Statement:  The Army Specialist Henry J. Mayfield Jr. Scholarship Foundation provides scholarship opportunities to graduates of Army Specialist Mayfield’s alma mater, Hillcrest High School. Scholarship recipients must attend Northern Illinois University.

Who We Are, and Why We’re Here

Army Specialist Henry J. Mayfield is a Chicago native and fallen American Hero. Army Specialist Mayfield was twenty three years old when he made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. Army Specialist  Mayfield was killed January 5th 2020 during an attack at Manda Bay Airfield in Kenya. Army Specialist Mayfield is a noble young man that had a vision. He was a stand up guy, the best friend you could ever have. .Mayfield graduated from Hillcrest High School in 2014. He attended Northern Illinois University for a short time before joining the United States Army. Army Specialist Mayfield joined the army as a means to support himself and planned to return to college and eventually start his own business. In twenty-three years Mayfield proved to be a virtuous young man possessing qualities such as courage;  magnificence; ambition; magnanimity.
